"My customers tell me, 'Kim, I don't even come anymore because it's such a hassle to get in there.'" That's how founder Kim Wilson explained the problem to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, as Buckhead.com reported in July. Wilson said she had more space to grow and better access in mind. In the same interview she told the story of the last customer she'd told about the move. That customer said she had hit her tire rims in the Andrews Square lot so many times it drove her crazy.
The move is done now. Lucy's Market is open at 3402 Piedmont Road NE, and the AJC confirmed in October that it had finished moving into the larger freestanding building near Piedmont and Lenox roads. The new spot fixes the parking. It also puts the shop on a corridor that changes how a Buckhead holiday errand gets planned. Thanksgiving week will be the first time all of this gets tested together.
What Andrews Square was asking of its regulars
For about ten years, Lucy's sat at 56 East Andrews Drive. That's one of the busiest corners of Buckhead Village, and the lot wasn't built for quick stops. The store had come a long way from its start. In 2009 Wilson took over an empty gas station on Roswell Road and sold produce she had picked out at the farmers market before dawn. The stand turned into a store, and the store moved several times before it settled at Andrews Square in 2017.
Today, a lot of the business is gift baskets. Personalized baskets run from $100 to more than $1,000. They ship nationwide, and some of Atlanta's biggest firms are clients. At Andrews Square, the operation was packed into about 10,000 square feet with a staff of more than 20, who, as Wilson told the Business Chronicle according to Buckhead.com, "need every inch."
So the space was tight and the parking was hard. That mattered most for a store people used for quick stops.
The building on Piedmont, by the numbers
Here's how the two locations compare, based on Buckhead.com's reporting on the move.
| Andrews Square | Piedmont Road | |
|---|---|---|
| Address | 56 East Andrews Drive | 3402 Piedmont Road NE |
| Size | About 10,000 sq ft | More than 16,000 sq ft over two floors |
| Parking | Cramped lot | More than 70 free spaces |
| Layout | About 10,000 sq ft for the whole operation | All retail upstairs; offices, basket assembly and storage downstairs |
| Neighbors | Boxwoods, Isla & Co. | Across the street from Atlanta Tech Village |
Longtime Piedmont drivers will know the building. It was most recently the Blue Martini Lounge, which opened its first Atlanta location there on October 30, 2020, and has since closed. Selig Enterprises owns the roughly 16,400-square-foot building. It sits in the Buckhead Forest pocket, near where Piedmont curves toward Lenox Road, across from Atlanta Tech Village at 3423 Piedmont.
The most important part of that layout is the downstairs. Moving basket assembly and storage below the sales floor frees the whole top floor for shoppers. When Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles toured before the grand opening, Wilson said the new store "feels so much more open, bright and inviting." She said food has more space, departments and vendors have more room, and the gift basket area has grown. She also said it's "still the same Lucy's they know and love."
The plan published in July was a soft opening on October 3 and a grand opening about a week later. The grand opening celebration ended up on October 23.
The corridor it moved into
Andrews Square is set up for walking around Buckhead Village. This stretch of Piedmont is set up for getting several errands done in one trip by car, and Lucy's now sits in the middle of it.
Head up Piedmont and you reach Buckhead Landing, the shopping center many people still call by its old "Disco Kroger" nickname. A roughly 54,000-square-foot Publix anchors it now, replacing the Kroger that closed at the end of 2022 after nearly 50 years. The same center has Omakase Table, the Michelin-starred restaurant that moved back to Buckhead from West Midtown in March 2025. It also has Burtons Grill & Bar, Aviva by Kameel, Carter's and Handel's Homemade Ice Cream. Rreal Tacos is down Piedmont in the former Farm Burger space, and Sunday Brunch ATL is nearby.
That puts a full grocery store, a gift and prepared-food shop, and a handful of restaurants within a short drive of each other on one road. It's a different setup from the Andrews Square years, when a Lucy's run meant driving into the Village's busiest corner.
The road itself is still being rebuilt
Lucy's new block is also part of one of Buckhead's longest road projects. The Buckhead Community Improvement District, working with the City of Atlanta, GDOT and the Atlanta Regional Commission, is turning Piedmont between Peachtree Road and Lenox Road into a "complete street." That segment includes 3402 Piedmont. ATLDOT's project record lists the scope:
- Widening Piedmont from five lanes to seven
- A 12-foot shared-use path on the west side of the road
- New landscaping, signage and signals
The July Buckhead.com piece added that the project also buries the overhead power lines. Work started in 2024, paused for the summer 2026 FIFA World Cup, and was "slated for completion by the end of 2026." ATLDOT's record shows a construction start of April 12, 2024 and a scheduled finish of November 29, 2026.
November 29 is the Sunday after Thanksgiving. If the project keeps to that date, Lucy's first holiday pickup week on Piedmont comes in the final days of the construction schedule. So the road is meant to be done right after the store's busiest week, and the turkeys get picked up while crews are still finishing.
Thanksgiving week at the new address
Lucy's Thanksgiving Week Menu is open now, and the schedule is tight:
- Wednesday, November 11, 5pm. Online ordering closes. That's six days from today.
- Tuesday, November 24, 11am to 3pm. First pickup window.
- Wednesday, November 25, 10am to 1pm. Second and final pickup window, the day before Thanksgiving.
At checkout, Lucy's asks customers to say in the order notes which day and time they'll pick up. The Wednesday window is three hours long and closes at 1pm, so it's the one to watch for anyone used to grabbing things at the last minute.
The menu is split into breakfast and brunch, appetizers, sides and soups, entrees, desserts, and wines, baskets and flowers. Here are the main dishes and their listed prices:
- Whole Smoked Turkey, 12 to 14 lbs, gluten-free, with a quart of gravy: $125
- Spiral Ham with Dijon Mustard: $105
- Pellegrino's Classic Beef Lasagna: $95
- Chicken marsala, chicken parmesan or chicken pot pie: $85 each
- Three-Cheese Stuffed Shells: $75
- Charcuterie Kit: $70
- Anna Bell's Mac & Cheese: from $62
- Creme Brulee French Toast Casserole: $54
- Thanksgiving Centerpiece: from $200
The $125 turkey works out to roughly $9 to $10 a pound for a 12-to-14-pound smoked bird, gravy included. The breakfast casserole, the lasagna and the stuffed shells point to how families actually spend the holiday, with relatives in town for days and more meals to cover than the main dinner.
The centerpiece and the baskets are where the new layout shows up. Gift baskets now have their own assembly and storage floor downstairs. Wilson told Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles that basket work is "especially exciting as that part of our business continues to grow." In the same interview she said one of her favorite things is "going all out with our seasonal displays and seeing families come back year after year." The July preview mentioned a holiday gondola and a Ferris wheel above the produce. This holiday season is the first time those displays go up at the new address.
The rest of Buckhead's holiday calendar this month
Lucy's pickup week is the end of a busy month nearby. Lenox Square's "It's a Holiday Thing" started November 1 and runs through December 31 at 3393 Peachtree Road NE. Tomorrow, Friday, November 6, Buckhead Village District hosts The Village Edit: Holiday Edition, a runway show from 6 to 8pm. Tickets are $25, and proceeds go to Camp Twin Lakes. On Saturday, November 7, Phipps Plaza holds The Luxe Edit at 3500 Peachtree Road NE.
The order deadline comes first, though. Lucy's Thanksgiving ordering closes at 5pm on Wednesday, November 11, and pickup at 3402 Piedmont runs November 24 and 25.
